Objective

The energy transition to clean and renewable energy is an urgent task for all of us to tackle both the climate and environmental crises looming before us. The Hong Kong Clean Energy Institute (HKICE) provides a timely scientific forum on Carbon neutral and Sustainable Environment which brings together world-renowned scholars and researchers in promoting an interdisciplinary dialogue on the challenges and future prospects of next-generation energy development and applications. The forum will take place in an atmosphere similar to the Gordon Research Conference, providing visionary knowledge with the latest scientific findings and innovative technologies on clean energy development with ample opportunities for discussion. A wide range of topics related to scalable photovoltaics, stable and reliable battery technologies, and smart energy-saving and grid technologies for various appliance applications will be covered. The challenges of energy production, use, storage, distribution as well as the latest developments in carbon capture and carbon-free nuclear energy will be discussed.

The forum will consist of a series of keynote lectures, guest lectures, discussion and sharing sessions featuring the following main areas:

  • Latest functional material design and synthesis, and intelligent system configuration/integration for solar energy harvesting devices (including PV, H2 generation, water separation, etc.), batteries rechargeable batteries and energy saving devices and applications.
  • Fundamental principles and degradation mechanisms of energy devices that pose a limit to large-scale industrial applications of clean energy.
  • The challenges of capturing, storing and using carbon in a renewable system to support synthetic fuel, gas and feedstock applications.
  • Smart grid technologies and network implementation to accelerate the transition to clean energy.
  • Innovative nuclear energy technologies for zero carbon electricity.

Join us as pioneers and be part of the community to increase sustainability efforts and reduce carbon footprint!
