NRC tells DC Circ. Nix Tribe’s uranium mine permit call


Law360 (June 3, 2021, 10:12 p.m. EDT) – The United States Nuclear Regulatory Commission on Thursday asked the DC Circuit not to consider the Oglala Sioux tribe’s petition to revoke a license for a uranium mine in the South Dakota, arguing that the tribe largely ignores the reasons given by the commission for authorizing the license.

The NRC says that its approval of a license for a project proposed by the Powertech (USA) Inc. unit of Azarga Uranium Corp. complied with the National Environmental Policy Act and the National Historic Preservation Act.
